An email breach has left an estimated 45 thousand patients affected with personal information exposed. Patients of Covenant Healthcare are being warned of the information that was potential stolen after bad actors accessed two employee email accounts.
The information includes names, addresses, dates of birth, social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, medical information/treatment, prescription information, medical insurance information and other medical records.
While targeting healthcare staff has become a recent and growing trend, it is important to recognize that fraudulent emails and Business Email Compromise does not only apply to the healthcare industry. Organizations of all sizes, across all industries are being targeted.
